Many indigenous peoples saw time as circular rather than the colonialism process of linear. This is natural, like nature which has many circular aspects. Our ancestors performed rituals that aligned with the sun and moon. The New Moon is a symbol of new beginnings and planning. Even the bible says Out of darkness there was light, Creation always begins out of darkness. We need to connect to our roots, that ether within us all in order to connect with the powers of the New Moon.
We should be planning, creating, building on a new moon night. Here are some ways you can connect with your ancestors and celebrate the new moon 🌕:
#1. Charge your crystals in the moonlight of a new moon. Charging crystals doesnt always have to be on a full moon night; it can be on a new moon as well.
#2. Set some water in a container under the moonlight to charge it up. Moon charged water can be used in rituals and spells/ rootwork.
#3. Cleanse yourself, take a luxurious bath filled with rose petals, pop a bottle or two, pour out some liqour for your ancestors. Pouring out liqour isnt just a "hood" practice, this is a ancient way of celebrating the dead, and also welcoming guests/spirits.
#4. Sit under the moon, it can be your yard, the beach, the park. Where ever you can be directly under the new moon at night.
#5. Three minds are better than one, if you got family members that are on your level spiritually, invite them. You got girls that are curious about this witchy shit? Turn them out. Invite them and teach them. The energy you cultivate together can be fierce.
Here are some tools you might want to get:
*Candles! I suggest white because white signifies purity, cleansing etc. Removing the negative shit you've built up, especially if you dont smudge daily.
*palo santo, incense or sage. Even frankincense. To help clear your aura.
*markers, pens, etc to write down your intentions. Create a list of short term goals and meditate on it under the new moon.
*bay leaves - example: if your doing a group thing you can each write down your short term wishes on a bay leave and burn it under the moonlight then blow the ashes into the sky.
I hope this new moon post helps someone.
As always , much love and raspect beloveds.
